Looks like over the weekend the ATF banned importation of the Russian 7N6. Turns out some bonehead made a 5.45x39 pistol and took to the ATF and that started the whole thing, or at least gave them the ammo (pun intended) to ban. There will be 5.45x39 ammo in the future, but it will no longer be cheap. So, pretty much kills the whole saving money side of things, which is the reason I now have several 5.45 rifles, including my new 74. It was nice not having to worry about the price of ammo - was getting for $0.17 per/rnd - and could have a little fun... looks like that plan didn't quite pan out like I'd hoped.
So, note for all of you... if you see me doing something... go the other direction, because what I touch turns to shit.

Ouch bro, that sucks... To add insult to injury, that's our tax dollars at work. This is the type of restrictive atmosphere that keeps entrepreneurs and investors from making bold moves across the entire business realm, not just firearms. I had always planned on buying an AK74 if the prices ever came down, looks like that idea's scrapped! Thanks for the info and sorry you got burned man.
