So a buddy of mine and I are seriously contemplating diving ino the NVG/NODs realm... For those of you that have taken the plunge, any regrets or buyers remorse?
A little background: Both have had training and deployment experience with the PVS-14/PEQ-15 setup, understand the basic capabilities and limitations of both. These would be strictly CONUS based training/fun gun setups, I'm not taking my personal setup overseas.
On the other hand, any problems or issues were easily solved by turning them in and getting a fresh set from the armory. So with that said:
What is a realistic lifespan of this setup, if ran on weekend training packages roughly twice a month? Maintenance? Does the PVS degrade over time like tritium?
Also keep in mind we aren't looking at air soft gen 1 crap, but legitimate PVS-14's and unfortunately DBAL's unless someone can steer us in the right direction towards legit PEQ's (hard to come by).
So what are your experiences? If you have this setup or similar an you could go back, would you do it again?

Let me also add that I'm estimating a solid setup with mount, PEQ, PVS and other odds and ends are going to be at a minimum about 5,000. Pretty stout, which is why I ask... Any buyers remorse? I mean, that could be a SCAR 17H with primo glass instead... Thoughts?

Sorry I missed this thread! For the cost that's going to go into all of that, have you considered thermal?

I already opted out of the NVG idea, I'm going to move into the long(er) range realm instead. Keith is planning on continuing with the NVG route, I'm sure he'll be on here soon enough to ask more questions!
